Leaving in a home with 5 people is not easy to eat healthy and try to save on the grocery bill. So my breakfast varies from heathy to bad. Just depends to what is available at home and most times I run out the door with just my protein drink. It’s been a long time since i’ve made a green smoothie for breakfast.

In the past, i enjoyed back bacon and eggs for breakfast on weekends but often skipped breakfast during the week days. Over the past 4 weeks i have been trying to improve my PH levels by reducing acidity … so i now have half a lemon in water to start my day followed by cream of rice cereal with raisins, cinnamon, and almond milk. I am interested in finding other breakfast items that will kick start my day with improved alkalinity.

When I was growing up, my mother always made sure our family had breakfast ready and on the table before we went to school and dad went to work. Thank you mother, Happy Mother’s Day!! I don’t remember us ever missing a breakfast together as a family.

Not so now. My wife never really got into breakfast with her family, and to this doesn’t really care for it. While I was in the Navy, I loved eating breakfast. Main reason, it was cooked for me, all I had to do was show up and eat. Anything from made to order eggs and omelettes to pancakes and a variety of fruits. It was great. I retired in June 2006, and breakfast has fallen by the wayside with me, mainly because no one else eats it and i don’t like eating it alone. So, unless I pick up a chicken biscuit or sausage biscuit, or even a donut on my way to work, I don’t eat it.

I found Simple Truth instant oatmeal with chia seeds and have that with some unsweetened coconut almond milk every morning. It tastes pretty good & keeps me from getting hungry for several hours.

I also drink 2-3 cups of coffee with non-dairy creamer & stevia. I know I need to cut back on the coffee, but it is now my only vise! 😉

One grilled chicken breast, 2 scrambled eggs [organic farm fresh], cottage cheese [1/3 cup], topped with 1 Tsp Ranch dressing, 1 tsp Chia seed gel, a few pinches of Italian herbs. Add to this 16 oz of ph 9.5 alkaline water before I eat, 8oz of black tea [2 Tsp sugar, 2Tsp lactaid milk] after I actually eat then some kind of sweet treat [fruit bar or 1/2 muffin] I seem to crave sweets. Some days I feel “okay” after breakfast and some days I felt lethargic within 30 minutes, especially with this past month. Being honest.

@Sharon: Coconut and coconut oil are fine for the alkaline diet. In fact, we would encourage anyone to use coconut oil rather than canola oil.

As for flour, it depends on what they are made of. The more processed the flour is, the more acidic it is.
